1,000 Free Miles for Creating a Marriott Rewards Account
As part of Marriott’s “FLY HIGHER” campaign, new members joining it’s Marriott Rewards program will receive 1,000 miles for free just for signing up. The free miles can be credited to one of the above seven programs.
The offer is valid until December 31, 2017.
As part of the promotion, you can also earn double miles on your stays at Marriott properties until September 3, 2017 (up to 35,000 bonus miles).
How Long Does It Take to Earn the Free Miles?
Since I was not a member yet, I tried signing up for the offer to see how long it takes. And to get the free miles, of course.
The result? It literally took less than 5 minutes to create the account and earn the 1,000 miles. (They have not been credited yet, of course, but I assume they will within a couple of weeks.)
Below is the step-by-step process to get your free miles.
First, you will need to access the promotion at the following URL:Â https://www.joinmarriottrewards.com/doublemiles2017/
On the page, fill out the short form – all you will need to fill out will be your name, email, country, and the mileage account you want the bonus miles credit to.
Once you fill out the form, you will receive an email confirming your sign-up. You will need to click the “Activate your account” button.
To finish the process, you will need to fill out your new Marriott membership number (you can find it in the same email) and some other details on the page you will be taken to. Once you hit “Submit,” your account will be active and you should be getting your final confirmation from Marriott within minutes.
Where Did I Credit the Miles?
Personally, I credited the 1,000 free miles to my British Airways Executive Club account.
The reason is that it offers quite good value for Japanese domestic awards since they are only 4,500 miles one-way for most routes, and can oftentimes be booked even on the day of departure.
