What Is the Best Priority Pass Lounge at Honolulu Airport?

While waiting for my flight back from Hawaii back in July, I visited both of the Priority Pass lounges offered at Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye airport in Hawaii. The below looks at both of them briefly to help you decide which one is a better place to relax before your next flight out of Honolulu.

Priority Pass Lounges at Honolulu Airport

As mentioned above, there are two Priority Pass lounges at Honolulu airport. While one of them is located in the inter-island terminal and the other in the main terminal, they are both accessible to all passengers – except for those departing from the commuter terminal.

The Plumeria Lounge by Hawaiian Airlines

The first of the two Priority Pass lounges at Honolulu airport, the Plumeria Lounge, is owned by Hawaiian Airlines. It is a typical airline lounge with some sofas for relaxation as well as a dining area. And, while it is not too large, I was still able to find a place to sit fairly easily.

As for refreshments, there was a soda dispenser, as well as some (non-100%) juice, beer and wine. Plenty of cold snacks were on offer, although the only hot option were cup noodles.

IASS Hawaii Lounge

The IASS Hawaii Lounge is run by a Japanese company that also runs lounges at Narita airport among other places. While the seating in the lounge is a bit more comfortable than a lot of the seating inside the terminal, that is about it. Only a small selection of soft drinks is offered in the IASS Hawaii Lounge.

What Is the Best Priority Pass Lounge at Honolulu Airport?

As there are only two choices, it is fairly easy to pick the best Priority Pass lounge at Honolulu airport. Especially so, given that the IASS Hawaii Lounge offers the bare minimum of amenities.

Regardless of your destination, I suggest you go straight to the Plumeria Lounge – which might be a bit of a walk if you are flying internationally – but is definitely worth it if you have a couple of hours to kill. If you are just looking for a quick soft drink, then the IASS Hawaii Lounge might be an OK place to visit – especially if you are departing internationally and are short on time.

  1. IASS Hawaii Lounge is TERRIBLE! worst lounge ever. I can’t wait until Priority Pass gives it’s member a better lounge option on the international terminal.

IASS is very limited in drinks, and some times chips and cookies for snack, the staff has been rude most of the time and the schedule is very inconvenient. they close right in the middle of the day, they have asked us to get a drink and get out a couple of times.
    Just terrible.
Please, please, give us another option!

    1. Agreed – if you have a couple of hours to spare, I definitely think it’s better to go through the hassle of going to the inter-island terminal and visiting the Plumeria Lounge.

  2. The lounge options at HNL are really bad. Nothing is open after 18:00; what about all the evening and late night flights??
